Medication

Despite safety regulations concerning hand luggage, vital medication in fluid form is permitted on board, e.g. medication for diabetics.

However, the security authorities will only accept the quantity of medication in your hand luggage required for the duration of the journey (flight and transfer). Depending on the situation, we recommend that you have a medical certificate from your doctor in English.

Should medication need to be taken according to a strict time schedule, it is strongly advisable to consult your doctor on how intake is to occur in the event of major time changes.

Syringes for medical use may only be carried in your hand luggage with a medical certificate from your doctor. We recommend that you have the certificate in English to avoid any misunderstandings abroad.

Please contact your travel agency to order / request a wheelchair. The following services can be requested according to need:

• Passenger can board and leave the aircraft without any aid; a wheelchair is only requested for the airport area (departure and arrival airport).

• Passenger can move around in the cabin without any aid, however, requires help with stairs and in the airport area.

• Passenger depends on a wheelchair and is unable to look after him-/herself. Passengers can only book with an accompanying person. Any exceptions are granted by the medical service; inquiries can be made to the Edelweiss Air Administration at +41 43 816 50 60.

Transport of Electric Wheelchairs

To ensure the problem-free transport of your electric wheelchair, you are kindly requested to take note of the following points:

• Do not deflate the tyres of your wheelchair before loading. There may not be the right pump available at your travel destination. Your wheelchair tyres will sustain a potential loss of pressure in the cargo hold.
• Please make sure you bring your wheelchair instruction handbook with you. This will allow the loading crew to consult the handbook, in the event that such action is required.
• The electric components of your wheelchair must be in faultless condition. If in doubt, please have them checked by a specialist before your trip.
• The batteries must be separated from the electric circuit for transport. Either by a main switch (if available), or by disconnecting the cable from the battery (battery connections must, in all events, be insulated against a short circuit)
• If your wheelchair is equipped with a wet cell battery, the battery must be removed from the wheelchair before departure. The loading crew will put it into a special transport crate (risk of leakage!). Please contact us if you have any questions: Edelweiss Ari Technics, Tel.: +41 43 816 55 84.
• Please register your electric wheelchair, by e-mail or Fax, at least 48 hours before your trip. Do so by providing the date, travel destination, flight number and passenger name for the round trip.
